Every exit is an entry

I am obsessed with exit signs. Whenever I see an emergency exit sign, I immediately take out my phone to take a picture and add it to my collection. Some of my friends that are aware of my obsession usually send me photos of the exit signs they come across. I have an entire Instagram highlight dedicated to my exit collection. I said all those, so you know that I am not exaggerating when I say I am genuinely in love with exit signs. When I think of exits, I think of entries. I think of all the places that an emergency exit can take me to. An emergency exit can possibly save my life when a building is on fire. Most people do not question using an emergency exit when it comes to escaping from a fire, but many are stuck in the dilemma of staying or leaving when it comes to toxic relationships, unhealthy habits, or a miserable lifestyle. We often fail to see the emergency exit doors in our personal relationships; perhaps, we sometimes forget they exist or are too afraid of the places they will take us to. This is why I love exit signs so much. They are my daily reminder of happiness. They help me see the red exit signs in other aspects of my life; they help me escape from that building before the fire burns it down entirely. Every sign I see makes me realize; if I use that door, I can get to a better place. Exit signs are daily reminders of all those marvelous opportunities life offers you, all those miracles that can happen if you are on the other side of the door, and all the spark and shine you can see if you look at the sky at night. Exit signs give me courage and confidence in the decisions I make by reminding me that it is okay to leave a toxic friendship; it is okay to get rejected after an interview; it is okay to get out of your comfort zone. All of those things increase my chances of coming across better friendships, jobs, and opportunities. Exit signs show me not everyone is there to stay in your life forever; some people actually need to go because they take away from your happiness. Not every interview is going to lead to a job; getting rejected from some interviews helps you keep going until you find that dream job you've been waiting for your whole life. The next time you see an emergency exit sign, pause for a moment because it's not only an exit but also an entry.
