I wanna love glitter and also stand up for the double standards that exist in our society. I wanna wear pink, and tell you how I feel about politics. I don't think those things have to cancel each other out - Taylor Swift

In my opinion, there has been a problem with a very narrow depiction of what feminism means. I think that's very intentional. I do believe there is an intentional negative spin on feminism and what it stands for. Media make it seem like a movement of radicals who are advocating for the special interest group. Women constitute 50% or more of the population of the world. Women are not the special group; they are, in fact, the majority. Being a feminist means, you believe in equality as a general term; more specifically, you believe in equality of opportunity in every domain of life. It also means you believe in the equality of options. It does not mean advocating for women's supremacy; it also does not mean advocating for hating men. You can shave your legs or not. You can wear heels or not. You can wear dresses or not. You can wear makeup or not. In other words, it means all sexes and genders should be treated equally. They need to share the same access to education, workforce, and legal rights.
Very well said! I know of people who do not want to identify as feminists because of how society often falsely perceives feminists as angry or man-hating, when that is not true.
This is a nice demonstration of the bigger issue. I guess this is the first step for reaching the end goal. It actually means something when it‘s done in practice.
I’ve never seen a better argument that clarifies what feminism is in its core and all the things that it isn’t. Equality of opportunity is what feminism is all about.
